Ashish Goud, BJP youth leader and son of former MLA Nandeshwar Goud, was allegedly booked for sexual harassment by the Madhapur police hours after he was protesting for the Hyderabad rape and murder victim. Ashish was booked based on the complaint of a former Big Boss contestant.
According to the complaint, Ashish and two of his friends misbehaved with a 27-year-old woman and her friends at a pub in a hotel in Madhapur, Cyberabad at 2 am on Sunday. She said that Ashish and his friends approached them and acted inappropriately by using vulgar language, throwing glass bottles on the floor and even attempting to hit them.
The Madhapur police filed an FIR based on the woman's complaint under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Ashish responded to the allegations, saying that the news is false.
“I found out this morning that there is some news claiming that I misbehaved and it is being spread. That is all false. If there is something like that, people should come forward with proof. It’s become a habit nowadays for everyone to issue blank complaints like this. We are not those who get scared for this,” he said.
Ashish is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). His father was the former legislator of Patancheru constituency in Telangana in 2009. A Congress MLA then, Nandeshwar Goud joined BJP in 2016 and later the TDP in 2019.
The complaint against Ashish comes only hours after he participated in a protest for the woman veterinarian doctor who was raped and murdered in Hyderabad. Her charred body was found in a culvert on Thursday. Protests have erupted across the country over the rape and murder case.
