Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Saturday said the insecure atmosphere would not be tolerated in his state. Speaking to media persons after inaugurating an e-Sawari (electric rickshaw) scheme for women in Indore, the chief minister said that he wanted Madhya Pradesh to be a safe state.
When asked about the action plan, he said the administration would chalk out the strategy. “I can only set targets and I have set a target of a secure Madhya Pradesh, which is to be achieved,” Nath said.
Earlier, speaking at the e-Sawari launch programme, the chief minister said that the scheme was not just about providing livelihood to women but about their empowerment. “Women should feel secure, independent and empowered,” Nath said.
On the occasion, 100 e-rickshaws, to be driven by women, were handed over to them. The chief minister said that the scheme would be extended all across state based on demand. Nath said it was the first livelihood scheme of its kind for women in the country.
‘We believe in action, not announcements’
The chief minister said that he never believed in announcements and even e-Sawari scheme was not pre-announced. Targeting the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government, he said for the last 15 years there were numerous announcements and people are fed up with announcements; now the time is for action.
Without naming Chouhan, he said when people can’t make announcements, they criticize, but he was not bothered about criticisms. “We do not require certificate from them (BJP), we need certificate from the people and that is what we are aiming at,” the chief minister said.
He mentioned that ensuring good future for the youth and giving new fillip to agriculture sector and investments were the biggest challenges before his government.
Ex-CM Digvijaya Singh, Home Minister Bala Bachchan, Health Minister Tulsi Silawat, Urban Administration Minister Jaivardhan Singh and Higher Education Minister Jitu Patwari were among those present at the event.
