BJP, which was emerging as the single-largest party in Jharkhand as per early trends, is now likely to lose the status to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). While the counting is yet to be over, according to the latest figures by the Election Commission of India, the BJP is leading only in 24 seats, while JMM is ahead in 29 constituencies.
As per the current trends, the coalition of Congress-JMM-RJD is leading in 46 seats. The half-way mark in 81-seat Jharkhand assembly is 41. If the Congress-JMM-RJD combine can maintain their leads and emerge victorious, the alliance will be comfortably placed to form the next government in Jharkhand.

Meanwhile, the opposition coalition's CM face Hemant Soren has almost ensured his win from Barhait constituency. He has extended his lead by over 12,000 votes against BJP's Simon Malto. In Dumka, too, Soren is leading against BJP minister Lois Marandi by a margin of 2,500 votes.
The almost finalised trends have come as a big blow to the BJP, especially incumbent CM Raghubar Das, under whose rule a government completed its five-year term for the first time in Jharkhand. Interestingly, the CM itself is facing a loss as he is trailing behind BJP rebel and independent candidate Saryu Roy by around 7,000 votes.
