Amid burgeoning criticisms against the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday amplified BJP's social media campaign aimed to fight the alleged misinformation spreading opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act. Kickstarting the social media blitzkrieg, PM Modi shared an explainer video by spiritual leader Jaggi Vasudev of the Isha Foundation, urging his followers to listen and understand the minute aspects of the act. "Do hear this lucid explanation of aspects relating to CAA and more by @SadhguruJV. He provides historical context, brilliantly highlights our culture of brotherhood. He also calls out the misinformation by vested interest groups," Modi tweeted with the hashtag #IndiaSupportsCAA.
With the Cental government facing opposition across India, the BJP IT Cell has reportedly launched a mega 'Tweetathon', a carefully scripted offensive on the microblogging site, which has gone live at 9am on Monday.
Both the personal Twitter handles associated with Modi—@narendramodi and @narendramodi_in—have posted messages in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act on Monday. The BJP, too, have posted several creatives with the caption "Myth Buster: Citizenship Amendment Act 2019" and the hashtag #IndiaSupportsCAA.
