O. Rajagopal, the lone BJP MLA in Kerala assembly, admitted that the activities of the party in the state has been adversely affected because of the absence of a state unit chief. The post has been lying vacant ever since P.S Sreedharan Pillai was appointed as the governor of Mizoram on October 25.
Speaking to a Kerala news channel, the MLA said the state unit of the party never faced a similar situation before.
He said the party was unable to confront the opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Bill by the left parties and the Congress because of the absence of a state chief. The MLA added that leaders were upset because of this.
He admitted that there is a crisis in the state unit of the party and added that it is important that the party has a state chief. The situation is unprecedented, he said and added that Home Minister Amit Shah and party national president J.P. Nadda have been informed about this.
Further, hitting out at his detractors within his own party who have been criticising him for not taking on the LDF government despite being the only MLA from the party, Rajagopal said his “culture” does not allow him to resort to abusive language. He said he will point out when there are mistakes, but would not use abusive language.
