The Delhi Police head constable who succumbed to injuries sustained in the CAA clashes on Monday, died of gunshot injuries, the autopsy report revealed.
Police sources, reportedly, said that according to the autopsy report, Ratan Lal (42), a head constable attached to the office of the ACP Gokalpuri, took a bullet to his left shoulder and it was recovered during the procedure from his right shoulder.
It was earlier reported that Ratan Lal died from injuries sustained in stone-pelting in Gokalpuri.
Clashes broke out between groups supporting and opposing the CAA in northeast Delhi's Jafrabad and Maujpur on Monday, with protesters torching houses, shops and vehicles, and hurling stones at each other.
Violence has also been reported in Chandbagh and Bhajanpura areas of the city.
Ratan Lal was among the nine people who have been killed in the violence that erupted on Monday over the amended citizenship law.
Several houses, shops and vehicles were set on fire. Violence was also reported from Chandbagh and Bhajanpura areas. A petrol pump was set on fire in Bhajanpura.
Police fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters. As violence escalated, Delhi Metro has closed Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar stations. The police also imposed section 144 of the CrPC, which prohibits assembly of four or more people, in areas affected by violence in northeast Delhi.
