Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that he will not be participating in any ‘Holi Milan’ events in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
“Experts across the world have advised to reduce mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Hence, this year I have decided not to participate in any Holi Milan programme,” Modi tweeted.

PM Modi had tweeted the previous day that the government was reviewing India’s preparedness on the coronavirus outbreak. He added that ministries and states were working together to contain the spread of the virus, and people arriving in India were being given prompt medical attention.
Modi further tweeted about simple and small measures people can take to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
In India, six positive cases of coronavirus have been reported so far. The health ministry has assured that the patients who tested positive are being closely monitored, and have asked others to take precautionary measures to avoid contracting the virus.
On Wednesday, AIIMS confirmed that 15 Italian tourists in Jaipur tested positive for the coronavirus. They will undergo further tests and be kept under observation.
The government also released travel advisories to citizens, asking them to refrain from travelling to foreign countries, especially China, South Korea, Italy and Iran.
The global death toll due to COVID-19 has crossed over 3,000, with a majority of deaths being reported from China.
