An American couple, who were admitted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital with symptoms similar to Covid-19 and found missing from the hospital on Friday, has been traced at Cochin International Airport.
Both were identified at the airport as they attempted to board a late night flight to Doha on Friday. Their blood samples have been sent for testing and the result is awaited. Meanwhile they have been put under isolation.
Alexander, 28 and Elisa, 25, who arrived from the UK, had run away from the government hospital in Alappuzha district of Kerala without informing the authorities after they were asked to give their blood samples and passport details.
They came to Kerala via Doha and came for consultation at the Government T D Medical College, Alappuzha as they were suffering from fever. Doctors advised them to stay in the isolation ward at the medical college. The couple informed the hospital that they were American citizens who had been living in London for three years.
Alappuzha district collector said that the duo had come with some symptoms of viral infection and were advised test for COVID-19. They left the hospital as the medical team were preparing for collecting blood samples.
Police have initiated investigations after both were found missing. On receiving a tip that the two had gone to Kayamkulam by a train, officials held search operations, but they were untraceable.
