On Monday, Kerala police registered cases against 79 people, including Bigg Boss contestant Rajith Kumar, a professor at the Sree Sankara College, Kalady, after his fans thronged Kochi airport. Two arrests have been made—Chelamattom natives Nibas and Mohammed Afsal were the ones detained. The News Minute reported that cases have been registered under sections 143 (Unlawful Assembly), 147 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation).

Rajith Kumar is a botany teacher at the Sree Sankara College, Kalady. He had courted controversy, when, in 2013, during an interaction with college students, he stated women who wear jeans will give birth to transgender babies. A few years later, he repeated the same comment during a television show. He also drew flak for his statement that women's uterus would get displaced when they jump and this would cause infertility.

Rajith Kumar was ousted from the show for applying chilly in the eyes of fellow contestant Reshma when she was celebrating her birthday. This happened when the contestants were asked to act like school students.
