Delhi Police on Wednesday issued a list of potentially-malicious websites that exploit the panic caused by coronavirus pandemic.
The Cyber Crime division of the Delhi Police tweeted a list of “potentially dangerous domains” and advised people to stay away from them.
Giving out list of 13 websites, official Twitter handle of DCP, Cyber Crime, asked public to “apply caution while handling emails/links.”
However, police have not given details of the threats involved with these website. Some of these sites could be trying to steal passwords and personal information or trying to spread malware, launch spear-phishing campaigns. There are many sites which send out mass scam emails with an aim to make money.
There have been reports that hackers are using coronavirus fear to hack into personal accounts.
In 2020, over 4,000 coronavirus-related sites have been registered globally, according to a study report published by Check Point Threat Intelligence. Coronavirus-related domains are 50 per cent more likely to be malicious than other domains registered at the same period,” the report said.
