Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raghav Chadha has found himself in hot water for posting “objectionable remarks” against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A first information report has been filed against the 31-year-old for alleging that the UP CM was getting migrants returning from Delhi beaten up.

The complaint was filed by advocate Prashant Patel, reports ANI. Chadha had tweeted that the chief minister was letting migrants returning from the national capital to UP get beaten up, and further asking the government to not trouble them.

Migrant labourers were seen leaving cities to return to their villages amid a 21-day lockdown imposed during the coronavirus pandemic. These migrants who receive wages on a daily basis are presently out of work due to the lockdown and do not have access to essentials.

“According to sources, Yogi ji is getting migrants going from the national capital to Uttar Pradesh beaten up. He is asking them why they went to Delhi and that they will not be allowed to go to the national capital again. My appeal to UP government is not to do this and not to increase the problems in this difficult hour,” Chadha had tweeted in Hindi.

However, Chadha’s remarks were met with scorn by UP CM’s advisor Mrityunjay Kumar. He accused the Delhi MLA of spreading fake news and threatened action against him.

“This is absolutely false news, even during such an epidemic, his party is not deterred from playing dirty politics, how can the Aam Aadmi Party fall so low? The Uttar Pradesh government and the police will take specific action on this tweet,” Kumar tweeted.

Chadha has since deleted his tweet. However, Kumar tweeted the copy of the FIR and said that deleting the tweet won’t help. He added that this will be a lesson to those who spread lies about the UP government.

India is under a lockdown to fight the spread of the coronavirus which has brought the world to a standstill. Over 900 cases have been reported in the country, with at least 20 deaths. Citizens have been advised to stay indoors to prevent the spread of the deadly virus which has already claimed over 30,000 lives globally.
