The Karnataka government suspects that as many as 300 persons from the state attended the Nizamuddin Tablighi Jamath prayer meeting in Delhi, which has turned into a hotspot for COVID-19 cases. Health minister B. Sriramulu has stated that the police have managed to trace 40 of the 300 persons, and search is on to trace the remaining 260 persons.
According to health authorities, the persons who attended the religious congregation at the Tablighi Jamath mosque might be infected with the coronavirus and hence there is an urgent need to trace and isolate them to contain the spread of the disease. "We have information that 62 foreign nationals from Indonesia and Malaysia who attended the prayer meeting are now in Karnataka," said Sriramulu.

So far, the state government has tracked down 12 persons and has quarantined them. The government has urged the remaining 260 to show up voluntarily to facilitate treatment and isolation that is crucial to contain the spread. A majority of the people who took part in the Nizamuddin event between March 1 and March 15 are from Bagalkot, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Bengaluru, Tumkur, Udupi, Ballari, Dakshina Kannada and Kolar.
The health department and the police have appealed all those who attended the Tablighi Jamath between March 1 and March 20 to call the helpline 080 29711171 or visit the nearest government hospital.
