Even as the number of Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, who tested positive for novel coronavirus, touched 70, it has been revealed that an RPF officer who recently visited the railway ministry tested positive for the disease.

According to news agency IANS, officials confirmed that he had visited the ministry a week ago.

"One of our force personnel today tested positive for COVID-19," the news agency quoted RPF director general Arun Kumar as saying.

The process to trace people who may have come in contact with the officer is underway.

Of the 70 who tested positive, as many as 30 people have been cured, say media reports.

A few days ago, 63 RPF men were quarantined in Ludhiana after 16 of their colleagues from 6th Battalion tested positive for the disease.

As RPF are engaged in crowd management and ensuring that the migrants who are travelling by Shramik Trains are maintaining social distancing, they are at an increased risk of exposure to the virus.
