With face masks being the new normal in the wake of novel coronavirus pandemic, many people have seen it as an opportunity to explore their creativity skills.
Of late, a newly-wed couple in Assam has been garnering praise on social media after they were seen wearing artistically made face masks during their wedding. The videos and images of the wedding, which happened on May 22 in Guwahati, show both the bride and the groom wearing silk handloom face masks matching their wedding attire.
The reusable masks, made of Assam’s Paat silk, were designed by Guwahati-based fashion and textiles designer Nandini Borkakati.
“The idea was to leave the surgical approved protective masks for the medical staff, and encourage the population to wear more fabric-made masks with unique and creative designs,” Borkakati told the Indian Express.
Himadri Gogo, a make-up artist, posted a Tik Tok video of the bride and groom and since then it has set the social media on fire.
Earlier, a digital photographer in Kerala’s Kottayam district had developed a unique mask to overcome the identity crisis while wearing it. In the new mask, developed by Binesh Paul, the covered portion of the face will be super imposed on the mask as it is.
