Even as allegations of horse-trading fly thick and fast with Rajasthan Police registering FIR against a few politicians, including Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, over the same, reports emerge that Sachin Pilot was sacked merely hours after he had a conversation with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
While the political crisis was unfolding in the state, Congress chose to have a carrot and stick approach to Pilot and his loyalists. While the central leadership of the party tried to cajole him and appealed him to stay within the fold, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took an aggressive stance.
According to an NDTV report, sources close to Pilot revealed that the young leader had spoken to Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday and she heard him out patiently. She even assured him that "she would speak to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi," NDTV quoted the source as saying.
However, disciplinary action was initiated against Pilot three hours after the said conversation. Pilot was sacked as deputy chief minister and the president of the state unit of the party.
According to sources, upset over the developments, Pilot asked how can the party talk of of rapprochement when it is acting against him. He said while the leadership at the centre is claiming that the doors of the party are open to him, he was sacked and disqualification notice was sent to him.
According to NDTV, Pilot reiterated that he has no intention to switch over to the saffron side.
