Chennai customs seizes Rs 7 lakh worth of MDMA, pills were skull and grenade shaped

The pills came from the UK and the Netherlands

Chennai Air Customs have intercepted three post parcels containing Rs 7 lakh worth of MDMA in pill and powder form from a consignment from the UK that was headed for Ooty.

The packets were taken from the Foreign Post Office Chennai.

The first parcel from Netherton, UK was consigned to an Ooty-based person, and was taken up for examination. Inside a children's jewellery toy box was a pouch containing 15 grey skull-shaped MDMA pills titled “MYBRAND” with seven grams of MDMA crystal powder was found concealed inside. On opening the second parcel, 100 MDMA pills—50 in the form of green grenades and 50 purple skulls—were recovered from two plastic pouches.

The parcel was addressed to a Nammakal-based person who had arrived from the Netherlands. 100 MDMA pills with the marking ‘Tesla’ were recovered from the third parcel also arrived from the Netherlands and were addressed to a Chennai resident.

in total, 215 MDMA pills and 7 grams of MDMA crystals, valued at Rs. 7 lakhs were recovered and seized under the NDPS Act, 1985.

Follow up searches were carried out and further investigation is in progress, according to the commissioner of customs, Chennai International Airport.
