Former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey, who was denied an NDA assembly ticket for the Bihar elections, said his life is spent in struggle and that he will be serving the public all his life. "I am upset with the phone of many of my well wishers. I also understand their anxiety and troubles. After I got free, everyone expected that I will contest election but I am not contesting assembly elections this time. There's no such thing as being frustrated. Be patient. My life is spent in struggle. I will be serving the public all my life. Please be patient and do not call me. My life is dedicated to the people of Bihar. I bow down to the land of my birthplace Buxar and to all the elder brothers, sisters, mothers and youth of all the caste religion! Keep your love and blessings!" he wrote in a Hindi Facebook post.
The former DGP, who rose to fame after his involvement in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide investigation and his comments on Rhea Chakraborty's aukaat, joined the JD(U) party on Sunday in the CM's residence. The move came a week after he took voluntary retirement from the IPS less than half a year before he was to superannuate. "I was called by CM himself and asked to join. Whatever the party asks me to do, I will do. I don't understand politics. I am a simple person who has spent his time working for the downtrodden section of society," he was quoted as saying by ANI.
PTI had cited media reports saying he would be considered for the Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha seat where a by-poll has been necessitated by the death of sitting JD(U) MP Baidyanath Mahto. There were rumours that he could also have contested in his native constituency of Buxar.
But, the NDA gave ticket to Parshuram Chaturvedi from Buxar constituency and Deepak Sharma from Arwal seat. This ended ended all speculations of the former state police chief being fielded in the October-November polls.
