The RJD-led Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) on Saturday released its manifesto for the upcoming Assembly polls in Bihar.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Congress functionaries Randeep Singh Surjewala and Shaktisingh Gohil were among those present at the release of the Mahagathbandhan manifesto.

Key themes in the manifesto include a promise to provide 10 lakh jobs to the youth. Tejashwi said the "first signatures in the first cabinet meeting" would be about jobs. Tejashwi also promised to waive debts of farmers.

Speaking after the release of the manifesto, Tejashwi took a swipe at the BJP's premise of 'double engine' development (having the same formation in power in state and centre). "Bihar has double engine government. Nitish Kumar has been governing the state for the last 15 years, but it has not been accorded special category status yet. [US President] Donald Trump will not come and accord that," Tejashwi was quoted by ANI as saying.

Tejashwi targeted the Centre for not dispatching a Central team to assess the damage caused by floods in Bihar.

"... This election is the election of new path and new sky versus Hindu-Muslim; this election is the election of new fast versus the experience of failure; this election is the choice of self-reliance and progress versus partition and hate," Surjewala was quoted as saying by ANI.

Surjewala declared, "If we form the government, under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav, we will pass a bill in the first Vidhan Sabha session to scrap the three farm laws."

Surjewala alleged the BJP was contesting the Bihar polls in "three alliances". "The Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting in three alliances: One is the alliance between JD(U) and BJP, which you see is an alliance of BJP and LJP, which you understand, and one is the alliance of BJP and Owaisi Saheb [Asaduddin Owaisi],” Surjewala was quoted as saying by ANI.
