Cinema halls, multiplexes and drama theatres are set to open in Mumbai and other cities in Maharashtra after a gap of seven months with the state government on Wednesday revising the Unlock guidelines.
Cinemas and multiplexes outside containment zones will be allowed to open from November 5 with 50 per cent of their seating capacity. However, no food will be allowed inside the hall.
Swimming pools (used for training of state-, national- and international-level sportspersons), yoga institutes, and sports like badminton, tennis, squash, indoor shooting ranges will also be allowed to open with physical distancing norms outside the containment zones. An SOP for them will be separately issued by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department.
Physical distancing and sanitization must be ensured, said a government order.
All these establishments were closed since lockdown was imposed to contain coronavirus in March. Last month the state had allowed hotels and bars to reopen.
The remaining lockdown restrictions have already been extended in the state till November 30.
