The Aam Aadmi Party has decided to contest local body elections in Kerala. This was announced by AAP south India in-charge and Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti on Friday.

The elections to Kerala local bodies will be held in three phases starting from December 8, and the results will be announced on December 16.

“AAP has formed a state level committee that has been given the task to draw the list of wards and panchayats where we have such winnable candidates,” said Thufail P.T., former journalist and AAP in-charge of the state.

The AAP had sided with the LDF in the last Lok Sabha elections and in the state assembly elections it had contested independently. However, the party had failed to make any impact.

"Aam Aadmi Party Kerala will not lapse in its duty from stopping communal and corrupt forces occupying any political space in Kerala and will give people the choice of opting for honest politics in Kerala on the lines of Kejriwal politics in Delhi," Bharti said in the message.
