Aam Admi Party workers led by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia are staging a protest in front of party convenor and Chief Minister Arvind Kejrieal’s house to protest against his alleged house arrest.

The party leaders allege that they not being allowed to enter the house and meet the chief minister.

Sisodia sought to link the development to Delhi government’s denial of permission to convert stadiums in the national capital into temporary jails for protesting farmers.

“The chief minister denied permission to convert stadiums into temporary jails for protesting farmers. Now, public is not being allowed to meet him. Does this mean he is under house arrest? Why are all these security personnel posted here?,” Sisodia said.

Earlier, addressing a press conference, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed the Delhi Police has put Kejriwal under house arrest.

"On the direction of the Home Ministry, the Delhi Police has put Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal under house arrest ever since he visited farmers at Singhu border. No one has been permitted to leave or enter his residence and he has not been allowed to meet anyone. When our MLAs went to meet the chief minister they were beaten and thrown on the streets. The party volunteers were also not allowed to meet," he alleged.

Meanwhile, mayors, deputy mayors and various other senior leaders of the three BJP-led municipal corporations of the city have been sitting on a dharna outside the residence of Kejriwal since Monday to demand release of “due funds”.

The Delhi Police has refuted the AAP allegations. “There is absolutely no restriction on movement of people. We have deployed our teams there as a precautionary measure to avoid any clash between BJP and AAP members," an officer told PTI.

“The deployment which is being seen outside the residence of CM Kejriwal is the regular deployment for the security of the Hon' CM. We're coordinating with the CM's residence. Anyone whom they say they want to allow inside, we will allow,” said Anto Alphonse, DCP North, Delhi Police.
