Dr Balram Bhargava, the director-general of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), has tested COVID positive and has been admitted to the COVID care facility at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi on Friday.

On Friday, 22,890 fresh cases took India's COVID-19 tally to 99,79,447. The death toll rose to 1,44,789 with 338 more fatalities, the health ministry said. Active COVID-19 cases in India stand at 3,13,831, while 95,20,827 people have recovered from the disease so far.
