Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, whose statement was recorded by the Income Tax officials on Monday clarified that it was nothing related to benami property.

According to news agency ANI, Vadra said he has answered everything and added that "We are here to cooperate."

Claiming that he has nothing to hide, Vadra said "justice and truth will prevail."

There were reports that said his statements were recorded in connection with the alleged purchase of properties in the United Kingdom. Vadra reportedly owns several properties in that country.

The IT team reached Vadra's office in Delhi on Monday afternoon.

According to media reports, Vadra was earlier asked by the tax authority to join the investigation at its office, but refused to do so citing COVID-19 restrictions. The Hindu quoted an official as stating, “We had sought his presence for recording his statement under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act. However, owing to the pandemic, a team has gone to his residence to facilitate the process."
