Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad, after meeting Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party president Om Prakash Rajbhar, said his party will contest the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. In December, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi had announced his party's intention to fight the next state elections in Uttar Pradesh as part of the Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha. Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party general secretary Arun Rajbhar in a statement said their coalition will contest in all 403 seats in the state and Azad agreed to be part of it. "We are trying to form the government in the state on issues of education, health, electricity and employment," he said.

Earlier, Azad had said his party will field candidates in the upcoming panchyat polls in Uttar Pradesh. He also accused the government of “settling scores” with the opposition and expressed concern over the law and order situation. Before the 2022 assembly polls, the Azad Samaj Party will field candidates in the panchyat elections, said the Bhim Army chief.

Attacking the BJP, Chandrashekhar Azad said while Home Minister Amit Shah is taking part in road shows and poll rallies in West Bengal, the winter session of Parliament has been cancelled on the pretext of coronavirus. "The government is doing this to avoid questions from the opposition as it does not have answers," he claimed.

"In the 2022 assembly elections, we will form government in the state and give free education and power," Arun Rajbhar said, adding that "whosoever wants to stop the BJP, they are welcome in the Morcha".
