A minor explosion was reported near Israeli embassy at APJ Abdul Kalam Road in the national capital, a few kilometres away from the venue where  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, and a few senior members of the government were present for the Beating the Retreat ceremony.

According to media reports, while nobody sustained injuries in the blast, windscreens of a few cars nearby were damaged. The area has been cordoned off.

According to Delhi Police, prima facie it appears to be a mischievous attempt to create sensation.

According to NDTV, police said the explosive was wrapped in a plastic bag and left on the pavement.

"We received a call at around 5:45 pm regarding blast after which we reached the spot. No injuries have been reported in the incident," Fire Department officer Prem Lal told news agency ANI.
