Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel said the Delhi protests in the name of farmers were egged on by international powers. "It is an anti-national act being instigated by foreign forces. A majority of the protestors are leftist middlemen and not farmers," he alleged.

"The Centre has implemented Acts that bring in agricultural reforms, expand the markets, ensure better prices for agriculture produces. These Acts provide for sustainable farming. The government has responded to the farmers, conducted eleven rounds of talks with farmers and also offered to suspend the laws for sometime. However, the vested interest groups are instigating the farmers. This has led to disfigurement of Mahatma Gandhi's statues overseas," lamented Kateel, who accused film actors of spreading misinformation and instigating the protestors on social media even as the government was in talks with the farmers.

Kateel condemned the violent incidents in Delhi on the Republic Day and said the protestors had attacked the police including women personnel without any provocation.
