The political drama in Maharashtra took another turn on Monday after former Mumbai Police commissioner Parambir Singh moved the Supreme Court seeking a probe into the allegations he had raised in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray last week.
Last week, Parambir had sent a letter to Uddhav Thackeray in which he alleged state home minister Anil Deshmukh had directed suspended police officer Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crore every month from bars, restaurants and other establishments in Mumbai.
The letter triggered calls by the BJP for resignation of Deshmukh and even imposition of President's Rule in the state.
Parambir had been shunted from the post of Mumbai Police commissioner earlier last week following the imbroglio over the arrest of Vaze by the National Investigation Agency in a probe into discovery of explosives outside residence of Mukesh Ambani last month.

Bar and Bench reported Parambir had moved the Supreme Court on Monday. Senior lawyer and former attorney-general Mukul Rohatgi is appearing for Parambir Singh. News 18 reported Parambir Singh has sought "unbiased, uninfluenced, impartial and fair investigation in the alleged corrupt malpractices of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh".
According to reports, Parambir has sought a CBI probe into the case. Bar and Bench reported, he "has approached Supreme Court directly under Article 32 since State of Maharashtra has withdrawn the general consent for CBI probe within the State".
