Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has launched a scathing attack on the central government over the issue of acute oxygen shortage in various hospitals of Delhi, saying the death due to the lack of oxygen is a “murder”.
“The last time thousands gasped to death it was called the Holocaust,” Moitra said in a tweet on Saturday.

Holocaust is the term used infamously to describe the state-sponsored killing of around six million Jews using a poisonous gas in Germany under the cover of the World War II. The genocide was devised by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler who wanted to preserve the “purity” of the Aryan race.
Moitra, a known critic of the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asked why the government couldn't supply 900MT oxygen daily to the hospitals in Delhi.
“This Government enforced revocation of Art 370 overnight , is ensuring Central Vista project finished on time, & it cannot supply 900MT oxygen daily to our capital’s hospitals for past 10 days?,” she said.

Moitra's fresh tirade against the Centre came at a time when 12 COVID-19 patients, including the HOD of gastroenterology department, of Batra Hospital in Delhi died allegedly due to oxygen shortage.
Around 12.30 pm, the hospital authorities claimed they had run out of oxygen. The oxygen tanker arrived at 1.35 pm, they said, adding that they were without oxygen for 80 minutes.
In a related development, Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj has stopped taking admissions due to oxygen shortage. The hospital has four hours of oxygen left, reports said. Hospitals across the national capital and its suburbs have been sending out desperate messages of help on social media and other platforms, flagging their dwindling stocks of oxygen.
Earlier in the day, the TMC leader also hit out at the conducting of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at a time when the whole country is reeling under the second wave of COVID-19.
“Also why is an IPL happening in the middle of this deathly chaos? Do Indian sport lovers really want this macabre “distraction”?,” she asked.
