A tea seller from Maharashtra sent Prime Minister Narendra Modi Rs 100 via money order, asking him to use the money to get his beard shaved.
The New Indian Express quoted local media reports which said the tea seller, Anil More, hailing from Baramati in Maharashtra, has been upset over the setback that the unorganised sector has been facing owing to the continued lockdown. More owns a small tea stall.
The prime minister has grown his beard, More said and added that if Modi has to increase something, it should be employment opportunities for people.
He said steps need to be taken to expedite vaccination and improve the existing medical facilities. The prime minister should help people to come out of the miseries caused by the COVID-19 induced lockdowns, he added.
He said he has utmost respect for the prime minister. "I am sending Rs 100 for my savings to him so that he shaves his beard. He is the supreme leader and I don’t intend to hurt him. But the way in which the problems of the poor are growing by the day due to the pandemic, this is a way to draw his attention,” TNIE quoted him as saying.
More, in a letter to PM Modi, also requested him to financial assistance to people who lost their loved ones due to COVID-19 and also for those who have been hit by the lockdown.
