Maurya held then SP govt responsible for death of 'kar sevaks'

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya announced on Thursday that the state government would construct roads in the name of kar sevaks who died in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir movement in 1990. Maurya’s statement came ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections due next year.

Addressing a public event in Ayodhya, Maurya held the then Samajwadi Party government responsible for the death of kar sevaks during the movement.

"Kar sevaks had come to Ayodhya in 1990 and wanted the 'darshan' of Ram Lalla. The then SP government had fired bullets at the unarmed Lord Ram devotees. Many had died. Today, I announce that roads would be constructed in UP in the name of all such kar sevaks," he said, reported ANI.

On Tuesday, Maurya laid the foundation and inaugurated 996 projects worth Rs 1,500 crore in the Ayodhya division, comprising districts of Ayodhya, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur and Ambedkar Nagar.

In Ayodhya alone, 143 projects worth Rs 367 crore were inaiguarated.

“There is no doubt the BJP will form the next government by winning more than 300 seats. There will be Ramrajya in true sense,” he had said.
