Amroha’s District Panchayat President Lalit Tanwar opens up on pay equality for men and women

Over the last few years, men and women have been fighting for equal wages. Whether it's at a corporate level, daily wage workers, or even film stars, men and women want equality in the salary they draw every month. And to ensure that everyone is treated with equality, Amroha's newly elected District Panchayat President Lalit Tanwar has also stressed the importance of equal pay.

Lalit Tanwar's swearing-in ceremony was held at the Collectorate in Amroha amid other political leaders. He took the oath in the Sanskrit language to promote the Devvani language. Lalit Tanwar took the oath in front of his father and former Member of Parliament Kanwar Singh Tanwar as well as District Magistrate BK Tripathi.

"It can be discouraging when there is a difference in pay. When two people are equally working hard, why shouldn't they receive the same remuneration? I have never understood the reason for inequality in pay but I want to make complete use of my position and reduce the disparity as soon as possible," says the leader.

For the unaware, Lalit is highly qualified in academics and has completed his MBA from the coveted Regent's University in London. Despite being educated overseas, Lalit was always certain that he wants to return to his motherland and serve his country, moreover also fight the evils of society.

It's been reported that women are paid 19% less than their male counterparts. To battle this, Lalit plans to enforce stricter protocols at a grassroots level to ensure that every person who is hardworking and dedicated to their job gets what they deserve. “ I have only two things on my mind, education and equal pay. I want a district where every child has been educated and given a fair chance to grow in life. And secondly, men and women aren’t discriminated against on the basis of their gender at their workplace.”
