In a series of cryptic tweets, Congress leader and former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat spoke about facing "humiliation" and having his hands and feet tied. "Representatives of those who have ordered me to swim are tying up my hands and legs. The thought has been occurring to me that it is enough now. You have swam enough, and now it is time to rest. I am in a dilemma, perhaps new year will show me a path," Rawat tweeted.

The tweet has led to rumours that Rawat could exit Congress, in a manner similar to Captain Amarinder Singh, which will be a big blow to the party in a state heading for elections. Interestingly, Rawat was Punjab Congress-in-charge, dealing with the storm that was brewing between Amarinder and Navjot Sidhu.
The Congress has been facing massive desertion crises on a national level. On Monday, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee's working president Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco became the latest MLA to quit the party over the last five years. Notably, his name had figured in the first list of eight candidates announced by the Congress last week for the forthcoming state polls. Recently, Luizinho Faleiro and Ravi Naik, both former chief ministers, also left the Congress. The party is now left with only Pratapsingh Rane and Digambar Kamat, both of whom are also former CMs.
