A day after BJP won the assembly elections in four states, including Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit of his home state Gujarat. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s apex body meeting will also begin in Ahmedabad on Friday.
PM Modi has a packed schedule and, officially, there is no word whether he would meet RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at the Sangh’s meeting.
RSS official Sunil Ambekar told a section of media that the Sangh has planned to double it’s base by 2025 when it celebrates its centenary year.
More than 1,200 people are expected to take part in the three-day meet. Apart from the expansion of base, the meet will also discuss how to give a proper place to unsung heroes in various events and places, among other issues. As part of India’s 75th year of independence, RSS had compiled a list of unsung heroes through a survey, by taking help of various organisations.
RSS meet assumes significance as Gujarat goes to polls later this year. The BJP has been in power in its model state for more than two decades.
No wonder that Modi’s first engagement of the day is at state BJP’s headquarters Kamalam in Gandhinagar. A massive roadshow has been organised from the airport to the party headquarters. According to Gujarat government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani, PM Modi will have a meeting at Kamalam and also have lunch. Party sources said that around 450 people, including, MPs and MLAs, are expected to attend the meeting.
Later in the day, at the GMDC ground in Ahmedabad, he will attend Gujarat Panchayat Maha Sammelan. The event is to be attended by over one lakh sarpanchs and members of panchayats.
On Saturday, Modi’s first engagement will be the convocation of the Raksha Shakti University at Gandhinagar. Later in the evening, he will inaugurate Khel Maha Kumbh. The Gujarat government is expected to announce a new sports policy on the occasion.
