Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and Chetan Bhagat had the Twitterti in splits after the two met each other on Saturday, and got into a hilarious exchange on Twitter on English language.
Sharing a photo of the two, the Bhagat wrote: "India has two kinds of English. 1. The @shashitharoor English. 2. The @chetan_bhagat English."
The Congress leader responded, sharing the same photo, saying: My dear @chetan_bhagat, it was a pleasure catching up with you at the #ABPIdeasOfIndiaSummit. (Now how would you say that in Chetan Bhagat English?)"
"Shahsi Tharoor English: Reebok.|| Chetan Bhagat English: Rebook," wrote a user, responding to the banter between the two.
"Nooooo. .there's no comparison. In language, in writing, let's not even talk about ideas," wrote another.
"There's a 3rd one too. The one that is not as polished as Shashi Tharoor but is still pretty good," a user pointed out.
A user wrote: “No. Not at all. We have many Englishes. R K Narayan English, Nirad Chaudhary English, Gandhi English,Nehru English, Mulkraj Anand English, Nissim Ezekiel English, Vikram Seth English, Arundhati Roy English etc. Our English is not so poor!”
