Supreme Court judge MR Shah suffers heart attack, airlifted to Delhi from Himachal

CJI in touch with home ministry for making necessary arrangements for treatment

Supreme Court Judge Justice M.R. Shah was rushed from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi on Thursday via air ambulance after he suffered a heart attack.

"Hon'ble Justice MR Shah Judge Supreme Court of India has suffered a heart attack while he was in Himachal Pradesh. Arrangements being made to rush him to Delhi. Praying to God for his speedy recovery," a tweet from Supreme Court lawyer and BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia read.

According to PTI, CJI N.V. Ramana has been in touch with Justice Shah and home ministry for making the necessary arrangements to bring him to Delhi for treatment.

According to news agency ANI, a statement from Justice Shah's office said he is stable and there is no reason to worry.

Before being elevated as a SC judge in November 2018, Justice Shah (64) served as a Gujarat High Court judge and later became the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.

He is due to retire on May 15, 2023.
