The governor in a letter written to Maharashtra Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday advised to convene a special session of the Assembly to conduct trust vote against Chief Minister Uddhav Thachkeray.

In the letter, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari says that the present political situation presents a disturbing picture. He adds that there has been extensive coverage in print and social media about 39 MLAs' desire to exit the Maha Vikas Agadi government. The governor said that seven independent legislators have written to the Raj Bhavan saying CM has lost majority of the Floor thereby making it imperative to conduct Floor test at the earliest.

The governor directs that trust vote will be the only agenda of the special session on Thursday and the proceedings have to be concluded by 5pm. The proceedings will be telecasted live and advised government to make adequate security measures considering 'provocative' statements made by certain leaders against the rebels.

Rebel group leader Eknath Shinde claims that he has support of 50 MLAs including 40 legislators from Shiv Sena. CM Uddhav Thackeray have been attempting to reach out to the rebels and bring them back to Mumbai and avoid fall of the MVA government.
