Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh is likely to merge his Punjab Lok Congress with the BJP soon.
According to media reports, the former Congress leader, who quit the grand old part last year, will take the final decision on the merger after his return to Punjab from London. The three-time Punjab chief minister had undergone a back surgery recently and is recovering in London.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken to Singh to enquire about his health.
According to Republicworld.com, Singh's wife Preneet Kaur may resign as Patiala Lok Sabha MP.
In November, months after he was forced by the Congress to step down as chief minister, Singh announced his resignation from Congress. He had also announced the launch of his party, Punjab Lok Congress, then.
“I am neither tired nor retired. I feel I have a lot to give and contribute to my beloved Punjab. I intend to soldier on and not fade away,” he had said while announcing his departure from the Congress.
