Suspended BJP leader T. Raja Singh, who was out on bail after being arrested for his controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad, was arrested again by the Telangana Police on Thursday. Singh, a member of Telangana Assembly, was earlier arrested on Tuesday and got bail from a local court on the same day.

The fresh arrest was made under a preventive detention provision after widespread protests against the MLA in various parts of Hyderabad.

On Monday, Singh had released a video criticising stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, who recently performed in the city. Singh is also purportedly seen making some comments, apparently against Islam, in it.

He was arrested on Tuesday after complaints were filed against Singh in several police stations under South, East and West Zones.

Police said an FIR has been filed against Singh under various sections of IPC pertaining to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs and criminal intimidation among others.

However, hours after his arrest, the MLA got bail from a local court.

The BJP, in a damage control mode, suspended Singh from the party saying his remarks were against the party's position. It also asked Singh to "show cause" within 10 days from the date of this notice as to why he should not be expelled from the party.
