The fact that young leaders from student unions later are anticipated to run for office is a very predominant notion in Indian democracy. Owing to the same, in the recently held elections for the Rajasthan University Student Union, almost 20,000 students enrolled in the four constituent colleges Maharaja College, Maharani College, Commerce College, and Rajasthan College participated by casting ballots. Various candidates from popular student unions such as ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad), NSUI (National Students Union of India), and independent candidates too enrolled for the president of RUSU. The Rajasthan University campus was abuzz with activity just two days before the students' election, as student wings of several political parties were seen campaigning for their candidates. Nirmal Choudhary, an independent candidate contesting for the post of president of the RUSU created quite a buzz among the students.

This young leader has previously worked in his college premise for the betterment of their institute and has been a part of many awareness campaigns. Proving himself to be an emerging social worker, Nirmal Choudhary is famous not just among students but also among prominent political names and is backed by a lot of leaders including Mukesh Bhakar who is a famous Congress MLA. This veteran politician has reportedly said to be moved by Nirmal’s political ideologies and perspective on nation-building. Other than him, he has strong support from the end of the State President of the Uttar Pradesh Students Union and Akhil Bhartiya Jaat Mahasabha- Shubham Rathi. In fact, during the election campaign, when Nirmal Choudhary faced some hindrance from the opposition party members, Shubham Rathi went all the way from Moradabad to Jaipur for his support. He pledged his support and also assured that the Uttar Pradesh Students Union is backing him.

When asked about his take on nation-building, this young prodigy of politics stated, “Since they are the ones who decide on things pertaining to the nation, the state, and other areas of public concern, skilled politicians are essential in the governing body. They are able to manage, distribute, establish links with stakeholders, and make choices that can significantly affect a nation's prosperity. As responsible citizens, we want our elected leaders to put long-term national welfare goals ahead of short-term priorities. Responsibility is one of the most important leadership qualities. Most political leaders blame others instead of taking accountability for their own actions. Leaders ought to appreciate what other leaders have done for society. They should accept and work to overcome their own shortcomings and mistakes.”

Nirmal Choudhary recognizes that politicians are constantly in the public eye because they are in the news for various reasons and have a deep understanding of what it truly means to be a political leader. Around the world, there are many people who want to be political leaders, but very few of them uphold their morals and principles. Nirmal Choudhary is one such young representative who understands that the future belongs to brilliant people who are more interested in politics than government. He is also often credited towards raising the issue related to education and has always supported and fought for Free Education. The young student leader, if he wins the RUSU elections, is also determined to bring the much-needed changes in the field of education alongside creating a safe and sound college campus environment.

The Rajasthan University Students Union (RUSU) election results for 2022 will be out on August 27, 2022.
