Schemes at doorstep in MP, no need for people to visit govt offices: CM Chouhan

Camps on welfare schemes to be organised in villages to benefit eligible persons

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said people of the state will not have to make rounds of government offices as camps on welfare schemes will be organised at village level to extend benefits to eligible persons. 

The chief minister’s announcement came at a programme held as part of Mukyamantri Jan Seva Abhiyan (CM public service campaign) in Dawalikhurd of Burhanpur district on Saturday.

On this occasion, the chief minister flagged off a vehicle carrying a vaccination team deployed for prevention and control of lumpy virus skin disease in cattle. He also felicitated the persons who have donated lumpy virus vaccines. 

The CM appreciated the collector of Burhanpur district for satisfactory implementation of the schemes. He said that excellent work has been done in the construction of Amrit Sarovars (village ponds) and supply of water to every household of rural areas of the district. He also congratulated the team of officers-employees who “did a good job”.

Chouhan e-dedicated 1,284 works of water conservation and the Amrit Sarovar scheme worth more than Rs 31.18 crore. He also distributed certificates to the beneficiaries of Ladli Laxmi Yojana and formally distributed loans worth Rs 1.12 crores to 108 self-help groups under the Rural Livelihood Mission. 

Collector Praveen Singh presented an idol of Lord Ganesh made from soil of 75 newly constructed Amrit Sarovars in the district to the chief minister. Former minister Archana Chitnis, Nepanagar MLA Sumitra Kasdekar and public representatives and officials were present.

Strict directives on crime against women

Earlier in the day, the CM held separate meetings in Bhopal on two incidents of heinous crimes against women in Bhopal and Indore. Chouhan directed the police to take the case of blackmail of an ITI student in Bhopal on the basis of her videos shot in the institute washroom very seriously.  He said that special vigilance should be in place in colleges, girls hostels and other such institutions. The CM said that strict action should be taken against the persons involved in such incidents and it should be ensured that unwanted elements do not enter the colleges and hostel premises.

The CM also held a meeting on an incident of a seven-year-old girl’s abduction and murder in Indore by a man from neighbourhood on Friday. It was suspected that the man also sexually assaulted the girl. The accused was immediately arrested.

Chouhan directed that this heinous crime should be dealt with as an identified crime and the accused should be punished in record time. The punishment to the accused should be so severe that it instills fear among potential criminals. Chouhan directed Indore Police to be more vigilant and increase patrolling to prevent crimes against women. Director General of Police Sudhir Saxena attended both the meetings. Indore officials attended virtually.
