The tussle between Lieutenant Governor Vinai Saxena and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal escalates with the L-G writing a letter slamming the recent "misleading", and "derogatory statements" made by the CM against him.
The four-page long letter by the L-G said that "As to 'who is L-G' and 'where did he come from', etc can be answered if you were to even cursorily refer to the Constitution of India. Others do not deserve a reply, since they obviously cater to a very low level of discourse."
Kejriwal had lashed out against the L-G for allegedly blocking the teachers' training visit to Finland. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) party leaders along with Kejriwal took out a protest march to L-G's residence earlier this week.
Saxena said that though he had invited the Delhi CM, along with his deputy Manish Sisodia for talks, they chose to arrive with 80 people and went on to "make a convenient political posture that L-G refused to meet me."
Saxena also added that he would have loved to have him over and would have served lunch as well.
"You would appreciate that, given the short notice and sudden demand on your part, it would not have been possible to once have a meeting with 70-80 people, nor would it have served any concrete purpose," he said in the letter.
"I was rather astounded at the fact that even as the city is grappling with several serious developmental issues, you found time to walk for long and stage a protest meant solely for posturing, rather than taking the issue to a logical conclusion by meeting me," L-G said.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal reacted to the Delhi Women Commission Chief Swati Maliwal incident, where she was dragged by a car for a few metres on Thursday. He went on blame L-G for playing "dirty politics" rather than taking steps to improve law and order in the state.
"Law n order situation fast deteriorating in Del. LG, rather than taking steps to improve it, busy playing dirty politics. He has called series of meetings of Del govt officers today, which he has no powers to do, to further meddle and interfere in elected govt’s functioning," Kejriwal said in a tweet.
