Amul hikes milk prices by Rs 2 per litre, Gujarat exempted

New rates will be effective from today

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), that markets its dairy products under the brand name 'Amul' on Friday hiked its milk prices by Rs 2 per litre. Managing director of the Anand headquatered federation, Jayen Mehta clearly stated that the increase in prices will not be applicable in Gujarat.

"We have increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre for markets other than Gujarat, such as Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai," Jayen told PTI. According to PTI, the milk prices are increased by Rs 2 per litre for all variants. 

The statement released by GCMMF said that the new prices will be effective from Friday morning.

With the new rates, one litre of Amul Taaza milk will now cost Rs 54 per litre, while one litre of Amul Gold will be sold at Rs 66 per litre, the statement said adding that one litre pouch of cow milk will now cost Rs 56, and Amul A2 buffalo milk pouch will cost Rs 70 from Friday onwards.

Amul Taaza 6 litre will be now sold at Rs 324, while Amul Gold for 6 litres would be at Rs 396, while Amul A2 Buffalo milk 6 litre is to cost Rs 420.

Last year in October, the prices of Amul Gold (full cream) and buffalo milk was hiked Rs 2 per litre each for all states except Gujarat.

Citing rise in input prices, Mother Dairy has also hiked prices of full cream milk and cow milk by Rs 2 litre each across Delhi-NCR.
