Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tributes to soldiers who lost their lives in the attack. Shah tweeted, "I pay homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the ghastly terror attack in Pulwama on this day in the year 2019. The nation can never forget their sacrifice. Their valour and indomitable courage will always remain an inspiration in the fight against terrorism."
The incident happened in 2014 when a suicide bomber from Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) drove an explosive-laden vehicle into a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy.
India, stunned by one of the worst terror attacks, retaliated by bombing the JeM camp in Balakot, Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This was the first time that Indian fighter jets crossed the Line of Control since the the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.
As many as 12 Mirage 2000 aircraft were involved in the operation and bombs were dropped on terror camps in Pakistan which were said to have been "completely destroyed" as a result of the operation.
