The grandson of late Hindutva ideologue V.D. Savarkar has sought action against Rahul Gandhi for his recent 'Savarkar' remarks.
"I will file an FIR against Rahul Gandhi if he does not apologise for his statement on Savarkar," Ranjit Savarkar, grandson of V.D. Savarkar told ANI.
He also said that the Sanjay Raut and Uddhav Thackeray may have respect for Savarkar but until and unless they show their support for him, it does not make any sense.
“They should go ahead and demand Rahul Gandhi to apologise for his statements on Savarkar,” he added. “Sharad Pawar ji also has a lot of respect for Savarkar and he should also ask for his apology for his statements,” Savarkar was quoted by ANI.
Earlier, Savarkar had challenged Congress leader to show documents to prove that he had apologised to the British.
“Rahul Gandhi is saying he won't apologise as he isn't Savarkar. I challenge him to show documents that prove Savarkar apologised,” he said.
"Using the names of patriots to promote politics is wrong and deplorable. Action must be taken," Savarkar said.
While addressing a press conference after being disqualified from Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi had said that he will not apologise as his name was not Savarkar. “My name is Gandhi and I do not apologise.” His remarks has drawn fire from BJP. BJP came to the forefront demanding his apology for the statements made against him.
