In connection with the 1988 road rage death case, former Punjab Congress unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been in jail since May 20 last year, will be walking out of the prison on Saturday.
“This is to inform everyone that Sardar Navjot Singh Sidhu will be released from Patiala Jail tomorrow. (As informed by the concerned authorities),” said the tweet posted from Sidhu's official twitter handle.

(As informed by the concerned authorities).
While addressing a press conference, cabinet minister Aman Arora said that his release on Saturday was “as per policy”.
Sidhu was convicted in a road rage case. Since May 20 last year, after he surrendered before a Patiala court, he has been in jail. He is currently lodged at Patiala Central jail. He was awarded one-year imprisonment by the Supreme Court which was deciding a review petition in a 1988 road rage case.
Though Sidhu was expected to be released earlier during Republic Day on January 26 after availing special remission, he was not granted release. Depending on the work assigned in prison and conduct, his remission will finalised.
Sidhu was convicted over the death of Gurnam Singh, 65, who had allegedly died after he assaulted him over a parking altercation.
Reportedly, Sidhu would be eligible to walk out of jail in the first week of April, if he gets remission.
However, his scheduled release from jail is on May 16.
Navjot Sidhu's wife recently tweeted about the diagnosis of her cancer and operation.
"Waited for you, seeing you denied justice again and again. Truth is so powerful but it takes your tests time and again. KALYUG. Sorry can't wait for you because it's stage 2 invasive cancer. Going under the knife today. No one is to be blamed because its GODS plan: PERFECT," she wrote.
