Ahead of the Karnataka elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a public rally in Kolar district called the opposition Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) the "biggest obstacle" to the state's progress and development.

Hitting out against the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's “poisonous snake” comment, Modi said that Congress hates him because he is fighting corruption since he became the PM.

Congress is comparing me with a snake and seeking votes in this election...Snake is the charm of Lord Shiva's neck. For me people of the country are like Lord Shiva,” said Modi.

"My government has been working hard to eradicate corruption from its roots and the Congress is not liking it," said Modi.

PM Modi also slammed Congress for running an “outdated engine” that has failed to deliver on its promises. Due to "dynastic" politics and corruption, Congress has neglected the farmers, youth, women and the poor of Karnataka, he added.

He appealed to the voters to give BJP a chance to form the government in Karnataka saying that it is the only party that can fulfill their aspirations and dreams.

"I urge you to vote for the BJP and make it victorious in Karnataka. We have a proven track record of good governance and development," he said.

Congress, JD(S) are biggest obstacles to Karnataka's progress; people of state will make them "clean bowled", said Modi.

Karnataka needs a 'double engine' for development, Congress's weak, outdated engine cannot work for state's progress, said PM Modi.

Congress has once again brought out its "bundle of false guarantees" said PM.

On the second day of his two-day visit to poll-bound Karnataka, Modi is set to hold roadshows in Channapatna and Belur as well. This is his ninth visit to the state this year.
