Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day whirlwind campaign tour of Karnataka, will crisscross the state on Sunday meeting voters and addressing rallies.
As per schedule, the Prime Minister will hold a roadshow in Mysuru on Sunday evening after speaking at public events in Kolar, Channapatna and Belur. This is his ninth visit to the state this year and his presence is expected to boost the prospects of BJP amid disastrous pre-poll survey forecasts.
Modi will leave the state on Sunday evening. Over the coming week, the Prime Minister is expected to return to the state to address more rallies, reported ANI.
On Saturday, the Prime Minister held a massive road show in Bengaluru. Modi, who sported a saffron cap, waved to a cheering crowd on his way from Clock Tower to Govinda Pai Circle in the city. He was flanked by Bangalore North MP D V Sadananda Gowda and BJP MLC C Narayanaswamy in his specially-designed vehicle.
Congress confident
Senior Congress leader and Karnataka ex-minister M B Patil has expressed confidence that the Congress will come to power on its own with 130-odd seats out of 224 in the Karnataka assembly elections. He said that the BJP's alleged 'Operation Kamala' of poaching MLAs post polls will not be successful this time.
Patil, also the campaign committee chairman, told PTI that there was no "internal fight" in the Congress. He added that he has neither been sidelined nor is losing his importance in the party after Jagadish Shettar and Laxman Savadi, the tall Lingayat leaders from BJP, joined the Congress.
Patil is contesting from Babaleshwar, one of the eight assembly constituencies in Vijayapura district. "If they carry out 'Operation Kamala' this time, it will not be successful. The BJP and JD(S) together will not have enough numbers to form the government. Taking the support of JD(S) will not arise for Congress as it will get 130-odd seats," he said.
This comes as the Congress shared on its Twitter feed poll predictions which forecast a victory for the party. Another pre-poll survey conducted by a Kannada local media showed an edge for Congress.
According to the predictions, the Congress will win 134-140 seats while BJP will be limited to 57-65 seats. The saffron party is fighting an anti-incumbency wave in the state, coupled with corruption charges.
