Dutch YouTuber harassed in Bengaluru's chor bazar, accused arrested

A Dutch YouTuber was allegedly harassed near the Chickpet market area in Chor Bazar, Bengaluru by a local street vendor while he was recording a vlog with his audience. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media platforms.

In the video, Dutch citizen named Pedro Mota was recording video while he was walking through the chor bazar and a local vendor grabbed his hand and started shouting “Ye kya hain...(What is this)”.

Though the incident happened few weeks ago, it came to light when the vlogger uploaded the video in YouTube on Sunday.

Reportedly, Bengaluru Police identified the accused as one Navab Hayath Sharif and he has been arrested.

“Pertaining to this, action has been taken and the concerned person rounded up. Strict action will be taken against him. No such misbehaviour with foreign tourists will be tolerated,” tweeted Bengaluru Police.

Meanwhile, the vlogger, who had left the country, wrote that "Foreigner traveling in India experiences the thieves market in Bangalore, also known as the Sunday market or chor bazaar. But exploring the area started out on the wrong foot as an angry man attacked me by grabbing and twisting my hand and arm, lunging after me as I tried to escape."

The video is captioned “Attacked At The Thieves Market in India”.

Laxman B. Nimbargi, DCP, West Division, Bengaluru said that a case has been registered under Karnataka Police Act Section 92 against the accused person.
