Maharashtra: 15 killed, several injured as truck rams into highway hotel in Dhule

At least 15 people were killed and over 20 suffered injuries after truck rammed into a hotel on a highway in Maharashtra's Dhule district.

According to police officials, the accident took place at around 11 am near Palasner village on Mumbai-Agra highway.

The accident, reportedly, took place due to break failure. The truck lost control and hit two bikes, a car and another container from the rear side before ramming to the hotel.

The truck rammed into a hotel near a bus stop on the highway and overturned, said a police official.


"At least 15 people were killed and more than 20 injured," the official said.

The truck was going towards Dhule from Madhya Pradesh. The victims included those waiting for a bus at the stop as well.

The police rushed to the spot after the alert and an investigation is underway.

The injured persons were rushed to hospitals in Shirpur and Dhule, the police said.
