As water levels in Yamuna continue to recede, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Sunday, said the Chandrawal Water treatment plant, one of the three plants shut since flooding has started.

"Chandrawal water treatment plant has also started," Kejriwal tweeted.

AAP leader and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) vice-chairman Somnath Bharti said the reopening of the water treatment plant will restore water supply in assemblies falling in central Delhi, namely Rajender Nagar, Karolbagh, Ballimaran, Chandni Chowk, Patel Nagar, Palam Vihar, and Delhi Cantt.

"Work to restore all the three phases of Wazirabad WTP is going on incessantly and in all likelihood, this will also be restored anytime today," Bharti tweeted.

According to officials, Yamuna's water levels declined to 205.98 metres by 9 am on Sunday from its peak of 208.66 metres at 8 pm on Thursday. However, the water levels are still above the danger mark of 205.33 metres.

Meanwhile, the politics over floods and Yamuna waters worsened with Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj saying when there is a problem with Yamuna, the AAP government is always blamed.

"For the last six months, LG (Lt Governor V.K. Saxena) kept saying that cleaning of Yamuna is underway; now when there is a fault related to this, LG and BJP are pointing fingers at Arvind Kejriwal and saying it is his responsibility. This is the issue of Delhi; LG has all the powers and whatever good works are being done, LG will take credit for it, but when there is some fault, AAP govt is blamed and supposed to answer," news agency ANI quoted Bhardwaj as saying.

Even as the decline in the water levels are in large part attributable to the decreasing flow from the Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana's Yamunanagar over the last two days, Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Atishi sought to know why even though water levels were crossing the danger mark in Delhi, water from Hathnikund was not diverted to Haryana and Delhi.

"From Hathnikund, water goes to three places—Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Even though in Delhi the water level was crossing the danger mark, not a single drop of water was diverted to Haryana and UP, why? Was it because these two states are BJP-ruled? BJP must answer...was this a conspiracy against the people of Delhi," she asked.

BJP national spokesperson accused the AAP of trying to hide its failures in dealing with the floods. He said the AAP is making unfounded allegations against the BJP and the Centre. "They were supposed to clean Yamuna, but they did not. If they had ensured proper cleaning on time, the situation in the national capital wouldn't have come to this. They should talk about the scam that took place in the name of Yamuna cleaning," ANI quoted him as saying.
